Self Awareness and Healing
What is self-awareness and what does that mean for all of us? I don’t know about the rest of you but, for me, this life has been quite a journey. It has been a path of choices, lessons, awakenings, and self-discoveries. Through all of this there has been something that has continued to keep me moving forward, motivated me to look deeper into myself, and repeatedly experience this Universal push for transformation and change. At one time in our lives do we all battle with the internal questions around why we exist and what our purpose is?
The feeling of being stuck or knowing there is more out there but not being able to figure that out or connect with that feeling is a very common dilemma for the majority of us.
But, what propels those feelings? It has to be something greater than what we see, hear, feel, and experience on a daily basis, right?
We are eternal beings and our soul, our higher self, is what drives this purpose. How many of you believe that you are not just on this planet to “keep up with the Jones’”? How many of you believe that you are not on this earth to accumulate possessions, work yourself ragged every week, or to be in survival mode living out of fear of who is judging you, or even worse being constantly locked up in fear and judgment of yourself? This unfortunately is an issue in our society. We operate in a culture that competes with one another, that excludes one another, that places each other in social levels. We live in a society that feeds off fear from the media, fear of our fellow man, fear and judgment from our family and from our peers. Some of us were scrutinized or punished as children when we didn’t please our parents, our teachers, our church, or whatever authority figures we had in our lives. This negative energy can lead to feelings of inadequacy, feelings of guilt when we mess up or when we don’t please others, and feeling fearful of what others think of us. All of this ends up affecting how we see ourselves and how we feel about ourselves. It can result in people pleasing or doing things based off of what you think other people would want you to do.
Living one’s life in this way can result in depression, anxiety, stress, and numerous other ailments that can cause dis-ease emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually.
To truly discover who you are and what your purpose is, you must be willing to go through your personal process of healing, look yourself in the mirror and love what you see. To be able to get to a point where you don’t care what others think, and where you stop comparing yourself to everyone else is a huge part of the journey. Stepping into your strength requires you to stop feeding into the fear and judgment and be present enough to realize these feelings are an illusion created in your mind. What truly is there to fear? To have the ability to turn off your mind, calm it down and feel opens the ability to trust. To trust that little voice who speaks to you, to trust the higher self, to trust the instinct that we feel before the mind steps in and talks us out of our initial response does not always come naturally. However, intuitively it takes us in the right direction, the direction of self-awareness, relying on how things feel rather than how the mind tells us they should be. Relying on what we know is true for us.
The funny thing is that we all feel like we are searching for more when the reality is that deep down we know our truth. Often times we look to others or other outlets to make ourselves happy, content, and full.
However, our power, our strength, our beauty, our courage, our gifts and our purpose is already present in us. If we could turn off the noise, connect, and trust the awareness of who we were born to be, it really is all within.
Loving and taking care of yourself, believing in and trusting your self are all key factors. Working to release the blocks, the illusions, the traumas, and the emotions that we so often carry will help you to feel more connected to all that is out there, the life force energy, the Chi. This connection results in an awareness of who we truly are, what feeds our soul, and allows us to be in our personal power and stand in our strength. To be fully aware and present is freedom. We are all gifts of this Universe, do you believe in who you are? Are you ready to do the work?
